It’s now a custom, where two, three or four
people meet, no conversation will be heard, everyone will be busy with his
smartphone. Some people have gone far, saying once you have a visitor at your home
place, unlike of serving a drink, just give her USB-WIRE to power his phone, and he will be glad if wi-fi will be available too. This is how
technology has shaped our world.
Privacy is something which is taken with
much concern, Business companies tries to maintain company’s Privacy so that to
maintain their market. It is through privacy
a person might damage his image at work, or at home. The advent of advanced
communication technologies has worsened the situation, know days either willingly
or unwillingly you will find your information/data are exposed to the people
you don’t want.
I found most of young people like
technology, yes I do like too, because it has simplified life though it endangers
our privacy every day. Walking with smartphone in your pocket has no different
with being tracked by Intelligence Unit (Spy). Do you know why? Because smartphone
can tell everything about you, the food you eat, the road you pass, the place
you rest, the distance you walk, the kind of transport you take.
Of course its amazing, we love google,
but our privacy are nothing. Some few weeks ago, I decided to take a walk for
some kilometres, it’s fun walking while chatting, though it is dangerous, so
after I finished my trip, I received a notification that I walked some (14) Kilometres
through a certain way. ooh What!! So my trip was being tracked? For sure that
notification made me feel unhappy, because I realised the data were already
stored in the google server, and I could not manage to delete it. The notification
meant a lot to me, that am no longer the only one who knows the trip I made,
but also the Google knows? And what fascinating much, the google started asking
me to provide some human assistance, like to tell if a certain Hotel has
parking, a certain Supper markets opens every day or not.
In other scenario I received a call and
it was a new number, the person who called me seems was from the mobile company
of which am the customer to. She asked some questions regarding my experience
on that very phone which I use, of course I tried my level best to cooperate,
because it seems she knew everything, the kind of phone I use, the year I bought
and other important information, so I decided to share my experience just
because I believed even if I don’t share, she already had some of my
information.
Anyway that is not the topic I wanted to
share today, but what exactly I wanted to share is how we share our privacy unknowingly
to the mobile companies or some software while believing that we still holds
our privacy.
For some time, I have been asked myself
why some mobile applications (software)won’t work until you give permission to
access you image files, email, etc.? have you asked why this happens? Just
imagine you need to open camera, to take some photos, but camera says please
allow Camera to access your Gallery files first, and because you are in need of
picture, you allow that, what do you think is happening once you allow
that? You lose your privacy!!
Most of millions mobile Applications
which are developed every day needs you to allow them to access some files in
your phone for them to work. And you are really happy about that? the bad news is,
you do not even know the developer of a certain Application, what has been
coded in it, and what is taken once it accesses your files. This is a worse of
technology.
May be you have the feeling, that “who
needs you information” once you are not famous? Do you know that very little information
which tells where you are, with whom, what are you doing, can harm your life?
Do you know that you call little information of yours can be used to enrich a
certain company?
The development of Advanced communication
technology has blinded many people, something which makes most of people to
ignore the importance of their privacy in daily life.
Last week, I was in the Commuter bus (Daladala),
It was very evening, heading back home. The daladala was full, so I was forced
to stand-up for some 2 good hours. Because I was not seated, I saw every one
seated busy chatting on their smartphones, what interested me was a lady
besides me, her Android phone was set in large typography in such that you can
read the text very well just from 2 metre from her. Imagine she was in the
commuter bus, with such settings, chatting sensitive issues, what a worse?
When I tried to deal with my business, by
turning my eyes to the other side of, my eyes met with most disgusting photo
from other passenger, and I was like ooh my God, what is this. I realised the
seated passenger do forget that what they chat, are clearly seen by those who
stood. And that doesn’t need discussion.
Therefore, as we are busy with our smartphones,
chatting whether in a daladala, at home, in the office, lets know we are also
busy exposing our information to unconcerned people. If you want to keep your
privacy, better stop using smartphone or be keen when using it by stop chatting
in commuter bus unnecessarily, or turning data on to places where you don’t need
your business to be recorded.
